description & composition :
film coated tablet : each one tablet contains 5 mg desloratadine .
Syrup : each one ml contains 0.5 mg desloratadine.
Action :
deslorat tablets or syrup is long-acting , antihistaminic & non sedative with selective h1- receptor histamine antagonist , it also has anti-allegic & anti-iflammatory action
idication :
allergic rhinitis : deslorat tablets or syrup is used in the treatment of the nasal @non nasal symptoms of allergic rhinitis ( seasonal & perennial ) .
chronic idiopathic urticaria : deslorat tablets or syrup is used in the treatment of pruritus , reduction in the number & size oh hives in patients with chronic idiopathic urticaria
dose :
deslorat tablets or syrup is taken with or without food .
Warning : deslorat not used of children under two years old .
Children from 2-5 years old : (1.25 mg )= ½ teaspoonfull 2.5 ml syrup onca aday .
Children from 6-11 years old : (2.5 mg )= 1 teaspoonfull 5 ml syrup onca aday .
Children from 2-5 years old : (5 mg )= ½ tablespoonfull 10 ml syrup or 1 tablet onca aday .
Side effect :
dry mouth , fatigue , pharyngitis , dysmenorrhea or somnolence repeted > 2% of allergic rhinitis patiens .
Headache , dizzines , nausea , fatigue , pharyngitis , dyspepsia or myalgia reported by > 2% of chronic idiopathic urticaria patients .
Drug interaction :
no clinically relevant changes in the safety profile of desloratadine as assessed by electro cardiographic parameters , clinical laboraory teste , vital signs & adverse events when it,s coadministered with erythromycin , katoconazole , azethromycin , fluxetine or cemetidine .
Pregnancy & lactation :
pregnancy category : it should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed
nursing mother : it passes into breast milk , so deslorat is contraindicated for nursing mother .
Contra-indecations :
in patients who are hypesenstive to this medication or to any of its ingredients or to loratadine .
Packaging : tablets : box contains 1 blister of 10 coated tablets .
Syrup : box contains bottle of 100 ml.
